Most of you know if you've seen Gray that we have been taking Gray to Charleston since she was about 3 mos. Yesterday, we traveled to Charleston, SC, for Gray's first surgery. She has a vascular birthmark called a hemangioma. I always call it a strawberry because most people understand that better. She went to bed late, and I had to get up early in the morning to feed her. We left with my mom and dad at 6 am. I knew for sure all week that I would be a complete mess once the day came, but I suprised myself. I had several people tell me that they prayed that a peace would come over me and boy did it. I felt relaxed and positive. Gray was being a great sport for not having eaten since 2 am. The doctors and nurses were so great! The surgery lasted for about 45 minutes. We got to go back to recovery, give her something to eat, hold her, talk to her, and calm her down. She was crying the most pathetic cry I've ever heard in my life. She slept the whole way home and was in a great mood the entire day and today. Her mark isn't perfect yet, but we are on our way. I know there is a purpose for everything, and I am still and always will be looking in our lives for why this happened to Gray. Thank you to all of our prayer warriors. They were felt every minute of that day! :) |
